Company Facilities:

All mechanical design is completed using SolidWorks 3D solid modeling software.  Version 2008, 2009, or 2010 will be used as needed to suit customer requirements for backward-compatibility.  Basic Finite Element Analysis is completed using Cosmos-based FEA software.  We can work from most legacy CAD data formats.  Photo-realistic rendering software allows us to produce marketing and communications materials for our customers.

Prototype measurement and dimensional checks are completed on our granite measuring surface.  A 6-axis Romer Articulated Arm Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) allows measurement of complex geometry and irregular surfaces.  Measurements are made using equipment calibrated to NIST-traceable length standards as needed.

Partner Companies:

Protomet Manufacturing is a trusted source for prototypes as well as low to medium-volume production components for many of our clients.

MForce Staffing provides us with quality manpower flexibility. We often refer clients directly to MForce when a project requires added onsite manpower to supplement the client's in-house engineering staff.

ModernTech Mechanical is the leading value-added reseller of 3D CAD and Engineering Technology for manufacturers in the Southeast.

APTUS DesignWorks uses SolidWorks 3D CAD software from Dassault Systemes.

APTUS Engineers regularly participate as judges in local and regional science fairs.  The photo below shows our entry in the 2009 Carpenter's Middle School balsawood bridge-building competition. Our involvement served to challenge and inspire the students as they designed their own bridges.  The video at the bottom of this page shows the 14.9g bridge failing at just over 100lbs load.
